1. Car hire prices in Limassol

Many tourists and travellers say that cars in the Republic of Cyprus is a necessity, not a luxury. And they are absolutely right. All Cyprians use cars.

Economy class. There is a large number of economy class cars available for rent in Limassol. For instance, Toyota Yaris, Ford Fiesta, Nissan March, the cheapest options in this category, can be rented at a price of 20 euros per day. It is an economy car that lets you travel along the Mediterranean coast of Limassol without any issues.

Standard. VW Golf, Nissan Note, Mazda Axela are the ideal rental cars for a trip to the mountain villages in the Limassol area. You can overcome mountain serpentines with confidence behind the wheel of this vehicle. If you plan to go shopping and visit the city’s beaches and attractions, the Fiat 500L (MT, 1.25l) is a good choice. The rental price of a standard class car starts from 22 euros per day.

2. Where can you travel by car?

You can get from Larnaca airport to Limassol by taxi or transfer. The same applies to Paphos airport, by the way. However, many people prefer rental cars to get to the city. That is what we did. We stopped on the way to Larnaca to take a walk around the historical center and have lunch on the Finikoudes Beach. Having almost reached Limassol, we visited a unique place — White Cliffs. That is where we saw a stunning sunset and had dinner at a local restaurant.

We rode along the B6 road to get to Paphos from Limassol. A part of the path runs along the Mediterranean coast that opens up some stunning views. In about 30 minutes, the road will lead to the place called Petra tou Romiou. This tourist attraction is also known as Aphrodite's Rock. You should take a break here to enjoy the stunning views of the Mediterranean bay.

Take the B8 highway if you plan to go to the mountains. It leads to Troodos — the mountainous part of Cyprus. In an hour, you will find yourself on the square where the hiking trails lead through the picturesque places of this mountainous region. We drove through the mountain villages of Cyprus (Platres, Kalopanagiotis, Galata, Kakopetria, Agros, Pedoulas) on a rented car, visited the highest peak of the island — Mount Olympus, and saw the Millomeris Waterfall.

3. What documents do i need to hire a car?

In order to hire a car in Limassol you'll need a licence which is valid for the entire rental period as well as a valid passport or ID card. Your UK licence will continue to be accepted in Limassol without an International Driving Permit.

How old do I have to be hire a car in Limassol?

You have to be at least 21 to hire a car in Limassol and have held your licence for at least 3 years. A small surcharge will apply to young drivers under the age of 25 as well as drivers over 70.
